Subject: IHF Team Evaluations & Division Alignment Notice
Importance: High

Dear Coaches & Managers;
As you're aware, this season's format changed to 5-preseason games of 2-open and 3-locked roster games for the Varsity and Jr. Varsity divisions. As announced during our Sept. 12th Coach and Manager meeting, the purpose of this change was to give teams an equal opportunity to be evaluated in three games before the League would make its final determination for the skill level and subsequent assignment of each team to compete in the regular season. Invited into the League's evaluation process are the Coaches themselves who volunteer to become a part of the new Coaches Committee. This process mitigates the use of stats and observations by the Board only to achieve a more fair result.

As we encouraged then, we reiterate again now that each coach should assess their own team and their opposing team following every game in the (three locked roster) preseason. Coaching staff should regularly submit their observations to ihfhockey@gmail.comAs the League enters now into its 4th week, and the second for locked rosters, only a few observations have been forthcoming. Without observations, many teams will be assessed based merely on statistics and Board observations. Remember, too, that the Board will not be making mid-season adjustments this season and teams will compete throughout the regular season in their assigned divisions. Combo division coaches should make note that this division will be "tiered" according to preseason statistics and only the Varsity and Jr. Varsity divisions are affected by the referenced evaluations.

Coaches are invited to join the Board in their meeting on the matter of Team Evaluations & Division Alignment to be held this next week. All Coaches are urged to attend and coaches interested in participating in the Coaches Committee are urged to respond ASAP with their intent. If you can not attend, then a written evaluation of your team(s) and your position for division alignment should be sent to ihfhockey@gmail at least 24 hours in advance of this meeting to be considered.
