Attention Coaches and Managers;
Included below are a
few notes requiring your
attention.
League Fees for
2011
Fees
for the 2nd half of the 2010-11 IHF Season are due by or before January 3rd,
2011. Please make your payments payable to and at The
949.
Coach
Certification
A reminder that all coaches must complete and
submit their required NFHS Coach Certification certificate by Dec. 31st.
Coaches who have already been certified once do not have to repeat. Please refer
to IHF Rules (www.ihf-hockey.org/Forms/IHF_RULES_2010-11.pdf) SECTION II. GAME MANAGEMENT, page 7.
The coach certification is based on the NFHS Coach Certification
course which can be found via the links provided and following the Fundamentals
of Coaching - CA references at http://nfhslearn.com/StatePricingRegs.aspx and http://nfhslearn.com/CourseDetail.aspx?courseID=1000. The cost is $52. When you've completed the course [approx. 4-6
hours], be sure to click on View Certificate and then Save As the certificate to
your drive (PDF). Then, email us with your NFHS certificate of completion (PDF
as an attachment) when you've finished. We will then log the certification ID#
and completion date into the League's records. You only have to take this test
once! Please forward your completed NFHS Coach Certification at your earliest
opportunity to: sduffner@yardhouse.com and ihfhockey@gmail.com.
Bench Management
A
reminder that only rostered coaches are eligible to be on the
bench for any IHF game. Increasing instances of alumni players, parents and
others present a number of concerns and can not be tolerated. Teams who
need an assistant coach should prepare a completed Coaches Code of
Conduct, add them to their roster and resubmit the roster to the League.
Teams needing temporary adult assistance on the bench must present
a completed Coaches Code of Conduct for that individual before the
game and then maintain same in the Team Binder. A photographer/videographer must
first obtain permission from the League Representative and present a
completed Liability Waiver before entering the rink surface for a game. Any
person on the bench under the age of 18 must wear a helmet. Players who are
serving suspensions are not allowed on the rink surface during an IHF
game.
Rescheduling
While
we understand that conditions can and do change, please be understanding that
requests for rescheduling are also costly in terms of rink resources and
manpower over and above the estimates for the season. The procedure for
Rescheduling Requests are covered in the Rules:
SECTION II. GAME MANAGEMENT
17.Forfeit Policy. If a team fails to show
for a game or does not have a sufficient number of players in accordance with
Section II, Rule 6 above, the game will be cancelled and declared a forfeit. The
team that failed to show will be charged with a loss and a score of 0 – 0
recorded. The team that showed up will be credited with a win and for the
purpose of standings awarded 2 points for the win while the forfeiting team will
be awarded 0 points. In lieu of a forfeit, games may be rescheduled
subject to the sole discretion of the Board and all of the following
conditions:
a. Minimum 72 Hour written request to reschedule in
advance of game day via email by the Team Manager to the Board at ihf.directors@gmail.com
b. Request must provide good cause and explanation of
extenuating circumstances; and
c. Rink availability.
Requests for
Reschedule should clearly set forth the cause and extenuating circumstances, the
game date and opposing team to be played. The Board will respond
accordingly.
Discipline
In the
event of an altercation or incident, whether on or off the rink, the head
coach should immediately file a report of same with the League by email. It is
strongly suggested that coaches also sign/initial the score sheet
to acknowledge the official game report as well as to request a copy of the
Incident Report from the rink manager before leaving that facility. The
Board's disciplinary actions for an incident will be routinely reported to
the respective coaches. Afterwards, it is the responsibility of the coach to
confirm that a player(s) have indeed served the prescribed discipline. It is
also requested that the player(s)' name be scratched from the score sheet
(strike through) and noted ("suspended") so as to alert the scorekeeper and to
make a part of that game's record.
Thank
you, as always, for your on-going cooperation and assistance with helping to
keep the league running as smooth as possible.
See you back at the rinks next week!
