Dear High School Roller Hockey
Fans,
The IHF Board invites you to a Town
Hall Meeting with us this coming week. This unique opportunity is for
parents, players, coaches, managers and hockey fans alike to engage a panel
comprised of Board members, rink managers and key influencers, in a dialogue
seeking to work actively together for the betterment of the league and the sport
of hockey.
IHF Town Hall
Meeting
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
6:00-8:00 PM
Hosted by The 949 Roller
Hockey Center
This Town Hall Meeting will be
moderated by noted sports psychologist and broadcaster, Dr. Casey Cooper.
Dr. Cooper will moderate the program to insure that the questions and answers
stay on point and serve to illuminate our way forward.
Fashioned somewhat after a city
council or school board meeting, this Meeting will give speakers having
completed the attached Speakers Registration form three minutes to address the
panel with their concerns. Tentative topics included on the agenda are
listed below, but new topics may be introduced by completing the attached form
and submitting it in advance of the meeting. Forms will also be available at the
door.
Tentative Topics for the Town
Hall Meeting may include:
The Rise in Violence
& Decrease in Sportsmanship · Uniform Officiating
· Certification of
Officials · Certification of
Coaches · Rules Enforcement
& Game Supervisors · Scheduling/Current
2008-2009 Season · Scheduling/New
2009-2010 Season · Methodology of
Divisional Alignments (and their Adjustments) · Forfeit Rule
· New School Clubs
· Teams &
Conferences · Rule Changes for
Goalie Eligibility · Rule Changes for
Playoff Eligibility · CIF Sanctioning of
Roller Hockey (Pro or Con) · Nomination of new
Board Members.
Registered speakers will be grouped
by topic and called upon by Dr. Cooper. Based on the number of speakers on
any one topic, Dr. Cooper may choose to ask that the interested speakers
designate a limited number of speakers so as to avoid repetition and stay within time guidelines. The
meeting is scheduled to last two hours, but some Panel members may be available
for further discussion after the close of business. Some speakers and/or
groups may be invited to meet with the Board again to delve further into their
concerns.
It is our sincere hope to create an
open dialogue by which The Board may take guidance in improving the IHF for the
coming season and beyond. Please make plans to join us for this inaugural
Town Hall Meeting
Best
regards,
IHF Board of Directors
