About the IHF

Established in 1998 in Orange County California, the Interscholastic Hockey Federation (IHF) is an all volunteer organization and the governing body for all high school roller hockey in and around the Orange County area. From its humble beginnings with a handful of teams from the immediate communities around the roller hockey facilities in the Irvine, Huntington Beach, and Costa Mesa, the IHF has grown to now overseeing fifty-five teams in four different skill divisions, representing thirty area high schools. These high schools cover four Southern California counties and comprise both public and private schools. The IHF proudly
serves nearly 700 student-athletes who participate in the IHF League.
IHF High School Roller Hockey League games are held at our three roller hockey
facility partners in and around Orange County including: The 949 Roller Hockey Center
located in Irvine, CA; and The Rinks (by
the Anaheim Ducks) at both Corona Inline and
Huntington Beach Inline
For nearly a decade, the IHF Roller Hockey Season typically ran from October through April and
consisted of three pre-season games, fifteen regular season games and a playoff tournament in all four skill divisions; Varsity, Junior Varsity A, B and C.
The season format and League Structure was changed in the 2010-11 Season to
accommodate the changing needs of our student-athletes and the economic
conditions. Changes include an abbreviated season and the addition of the
new Combo Division - a "Leave No Players Behind" initiative to help
put more student-athletes on the rinks and a chance to play high school roller
hockey.
Many IHF teams also participate in local regional and national level tournament competition. The
IHF League is proud to boast a host of National varsity and Jr. Varsity
Champions at all levels and in every competitive format in the sport. Locally,
the IHF teams compete at the annual California
State Cup High School Roller Hockey Championships, the Give
Blood Play Hockey Inline Hockey Charity Tournament and many
AAU-sanctioned Inline Hockey competitions.
The IHF also pursues the expansion of the League into additional high schools in the surrounding communities so that as many high schools that want to field at least one or more teams can do so in an organized and properly supervised environment. The IHF is dedicated to the promotion and continuation of the sport of roller hockey and to give all of those high school student athletes that wish to participate an opportunity to do so.
