Inaugural All-Star Event
Saturday, April 19, 2008

This inaugural event marks the tenth year for our high school roller hockey league and the Board of Directors couldn't be more proud. While the suggestions have been made before, this year marks a milestone for the league in finally bringing an All-Star event to our roller hockey community - a growing community that stretches across the southland. Following the collaboration by a large number of dedicated people over many months, we are proud to have you join us and hope you enjoy the show!

2008 ALL-STARS' HELPING HOCKEY GEAR DRIVE
Saturday at the Main Gates

The IHF invites you to clean out your garage of old hockey gear and help us to grow our sport by donating your used gear to the community roller hockey program of Chula Vista, CA operated by Jerry Nestlerode of San Diego's CIF Metropolitan Roller Hockey League. Jerry and his volunteers will be present at the gates and grateful for your hockey gear donations to help the under privileged children of this community continue their participation in our sport. Please help to fill Jerry's truck and send him back to San Diego with a smile and well-wishes from all of us in the hockey communities up north. Read the full story...

2008 DIVISION FINALISTS AWARDS

5:00 p.m.

To lead off the festivities for the night, together as a community we'll be recognizing the players of all four division championship games and awarding them with their individual trophies. Champions were awarded with their team trophy at their respective games. 2008 finalists include: Varsity champions MARINA and SANTIAGO; JVA champions DAMIEN and EL TORO; JVB champions TRABUCO HILLS and EDISON; and JVC champions EL DORADO and TESORO. Trophy awards will followed by team and group photo sessions by NuPhoto, the official photographers of The 949.

2008 SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
We will also be honoring fourteen very special student-athletes for their their off-rink achievements including their academic record, civic or community accomplishments, or even special contributions to their team or to our sport.
Meet this year's Special Achievement honorees...

With your IHF host announcer for proceedings and Kyle Mathews at the mike for play-by-play and commentary on the games, the Mascot Cup is next and features our Junior Varsity All-Stars.

ALL-STAR OFFICIALS
Based on ballots from all IHF coaches in the league, the evening games will be officiated by Brandon Dunn (picture) and Marty Hagerty (picture) doing on the on-rink calls while James Irwin (picture) will be off-rink doing the scorekeeping and timekeeper tasks.

JUNIOR VARSITY ALL-STARS 2008
The Mascot Cup at 6:00 p.m.

The Junior Varsity All-Stars (roster) represent their team mascots in two periods of tournament style, stop-clock, shootout action. That's right! Shootouts (penalty shot) instead of power plays!

Then, with school pride and sponsor awards from Mission Hockey, Revision Hockey and others on the line, following the introduction ceremony and singing of the anthem by Miss Katie Piz, the Varsity All-Stars will take to the rink.

VARSITY ALL-STARS 2008
Saturday, April 19th at 6:45 p.m.

Our marquis event highlights the skilled Varsity athletes (roster) in three periods of all-star style, competitive stop-clock, shootout all-star roller hockey action. Filled with highlight-reel action, sportsmanship and trick shots, these best-of-the-best athletes will marvel you with their rink mastery.

Following this game will be a flurry of activities including the naming of the All-Revision teams for both Junior Varsity and Varsity players. Revision Hockey will be singling out 2 forwards, 2 defensemen and a goalie from each division for recognition and awards. Team and publicity photos will be taken and a host of awards from our generous sponsors will be given to our student-athletes and their all-star coaches.

As some IHF All-Star seniors may be going on to collegiate competition next year, we invite you to come cheer them on to their high school roller hockey graduation, and follow them, too, as they grow to become the future ambassadors of our sport! Read about some of our IHF Alums who have returned home to compete in WCRHL All-Star Action (read this story). And if you want to learn more about college roller hockey, stop by and visit with Brennan Edwards of the Western Collegiate Roller Hockey League at the WCRHL rink side exhibit. The IHF is also working to help develop a list of our alums, maybe you can help? See the list

You won't want to miss this!

And please plan to arrive early as parking and seating may be at a premium for this event.

Special thanks to our host, Eddie Limbaga, and the staff of The 949 Roller Hockey Center
